₹7.98 lakh sanctioned for Knowledge Mission’s ‘Pride’

The Social Justice department has sanctioned ₹7.98 lakh for Pride, a project of the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM) for providing jobs to the transgender community as part of its diversity inclusion initiative.

The money will be utilised from the funds earmarked for providing skill training to transgender persons in the 2024-25 Budget.

It will be used to train 10 transgender persons in the ‘Certificate in airport operation’ course. The training will be provided by the KKEM’s training partner ASAP (Additional Skill Acquisition Programme) in association with Kerala GMR Aviation Academy. The money sanctioned is that incurred as course fee.

The course will begin in the first week of April. The training will be held at ASAP’s community skill park in Kalamassery, Ernakulam. A week-long English language training will be provided to the candidates ahead of the skill training.

Pride has been launched to overcome the challenges of skilling faced by transgender persons in order to make them job ready.
