At least a dozen Maoists were gunned down by the security forces in an anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Sunday (February 9, 2025), said the police. Two security personnel were also killed in the gun battle.

Confirming the count, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) P Sundarraj said the two sides had an encounter when a police team was conducting a search in the National Park jungles having received a tip off about the presence of Maoists there.

“During the operation, an intermittent encounter is going on between the security forces and the Naxalites since morning,” he said, adding that search operation was going on.
Among the deceased personnel, one was from the Special Task Force and one from the District Reserve Guards.
