Two infiltrators were killed in an anti-infiltration operation in the Pir Panjal valley’s Poonch on Friday (January 31, 2025), a day after a gunfight erupted close to the Line of Control (LoC).

“Terrorist movement was detected last night at the LoC in the Poonch Sector. Alert troops swiftly engaged the infiltrating #terrorists, triggering an intense and heavy firefight. The operation continued through the night, leading to the neutralisation of two terrorists,” the Army said.

The Army said the search of the area resulted in the recovery of number of weapons and war-like stores. “Operations continue in the region,” the Army said.

Later, a team of doctors, police officers, and a magistrate visited the forward posts to conduct the postmortem of the bodies of the slain militants.

Meanwhile, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), who was arrested a week ago, was repatriated on Friday.

Officials said Mohammad Faiz Yasir was handed over to the authorities at the Chakan Da Bagh gate in Poonch. He was apprehended from a house in Salhotri village on January 25 night. Preliminary reports suggested that the arrested youth was mentally unstable.
