The Revenue department will conduct a ‘pattaya mela’ here on Saturday as part of achieving the government’s objective of ‘towards a zero landless State’.
Revenue Minister K. Rajan will inaugurate the mela at the municipal town hall at 2 p.m. Officials said 6,532 land deeds would be distributed to the deserving people at the mela.
Minister for Sports V. Abdurahman will preside over the function. Members of Parliament and Assembly from the district will attend.
The Minister will also inaugurate four smart villages on Saturday. Kattiparuthy village will be inaugurated at 9 a.m., Kottakkal smart village at 11 a.m., Ponmala smart village at 12 mid-day, and Cheekode smart village at 5 p.m.
Additional District Magistrate N.M. Meharali supervised a review meeting in connection with the pattaya mela. Deputy Collectors Anvar Sadath, P.M. Saneera, and S.S. Sarin, representatives of MLAs and political parties, and Revenue officials attended the meeting.
