Members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of Andhra Pradesh have set four world records — one Guinness and three World Records Union records.
This was revealed to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu by a representative of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) during International Women’s Day celebrations at Markapur in Prakasam district on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering at an event held to mark the day, Nandita Sharma, Lead – Social Sector, ONDC, said, “A.P. women have created not ripples but waves across India. The members of DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) groups have achieved 3 lakh orders worth ₹5.13 crore in just one week, a rare feat on ONDC.’‘
They trained more than 10,000 members in e-commerce transactions, she added.
Apart from the Guinness World Record for ‘Most Users in an e-business Video Lesson’ category, the SHG women created World Records Union records for the largest e-Commerce initiative by a State government to promote Women SHG products, the largest event by a State government for the promotion of women-led products, and the largest pre-booking campaign for women entrepreneurs.
