Cuddalore Corporation Mayor R. Sundari on Monday expressed her disappointment over the absence of Corporation officials at a foundation stone laying ceremony at Manjakuppam here.
The ceremony for construction of new shops at ₹2.24 crore was scheduled at Manjakuppam. Though the Mayor and ward members arrived at the venue, there were no representatives from the Corporation.
After waiting for a few minutes, the Mayor laid the foundation for the construction of new shops. Taking a serious view of the absenteeism of officials, she said the situation continued over the last few events. After an Assistant Engineer from the Corporation arrived at the venue, Ms. Sundari made it clear that officials should be present at functions without fail.
She later directed the contractor to complete the work on time and left the venue.
