Accused in Atul Subhash death case granted bail

Twenty days after their arrest, a city court granted bail to the accused in the Atul Subhash suicide case on Saturday.

Atul Subhash, working in an IT firm in the city and going through a divorce case with his wife, died by suicide in the city in December. He accused his wife and in-laws of harassment and allegedly framing him in false cases. The case made national headlines.

His wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania were arrested from Gurgaon and Prayagraj by the city police on December 15, 2024, following a case where they were booked for abetment to suicide based on a note left by Subhash.

Their advocate, speaking to the media outside the court, confirmed that the court had granted bail. He said they were awaiting a copy of the order to ascertain the bail conditions and its execution. He said the court granted bail over technical grounds and procedural lapses.

The accused are still lodged in the central prison. The bail order is likely to be executed on Monday.
