Over 86 kg of suspected ganja valued at ₹43.11 lakh was seized and three persons arrested in two separate cases at the Ernakulam South railway station in a joint operation by multiple enforcement agencies on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Police, and the Excise department. In one case, Pappu Kumar, 33, of Bihar and Mohammad Sahid, 18, of Uttar Pradesh were intercepted on the sixth platform under suspicious circumstances.
According to officials, 72.84 kg of suspected ganja valued at around ₹36.42 lakh concealed in eight bags was seized from them.
In another case, Mandi Biswas, 24, of West Bengal was arrested reportedly with 13.39 kg of ganja valued at ₹6.69 lakh from the first platform.
