The Guntur district police are investigating the B.Ed. question paper leak case took five persons into custody on Sunday.

A couple of days ago, a B.Ed examination question paper was leaked at Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU). University officials were conducting the examinations at 63 centres.

Police picked up the accused from Vinukonda and the neighbouring places of the Palnadu district. The accused shared one of the question papers before the examination.

“The private college staff near Vinukonda leaked the question paper by sharing it on social media groups. We suspect more than one institution to be involved in the paper leakage,” said Guntur district Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar.

“We have sent a team to Palnadu district to arrest the remaining accused in the case. Police seized the mobile phones of the suspects,” Mr. Satish Kumar told The Hindu on Sunday.

The police said investigation officers also suspect the role of insiders (ANU staff) and that of other colleges in the paper leak scam.

“We are investigating where the paper was leaked, how many the paper was shared with, who and how many were involved in the scam, and for what amount the paper was leaked,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.

Police are questioning the suspects and more arrests are likely in the next couple of days, the SP said.
