Belagavi Mayor Mangesh Pawar assures to end confusion over e-khatas

Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Mangesh Pawar has assured to end the confusion over issue of e-khatas to residential and other properties in the city.

In an interaction with journalists on Saturday (April 5, 2025), Mr. Pawar said his office had received several complaints from residents about the e-khata issue.

“I have already held a meeting with officials. We will issue a list of necessary documents for e-khata. A desk will be set up to address grievances regarding this issue,” he said.

The Mayor agreed to consider the suggestion of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor visiting various wards and holding public grievance meetings. He also said BCC would take up road repairs and drainage systems ahead of the monsoon to prevent waterlogging.

He said the BCC would take all steps to ensure that the city does not suffer from water scarcity during summer months. “Some drinking water supply works are incomplete. I will set a deadline for all such works to be completed,” he said. He said the process of obtaining permission to water supply works will be simplified. He clarified that there was no need to obtain permission for water can distribution business. He clarified that there was no water scarcity in the city now.

MLA Abhay Patil, who was present in the interaction, said water supply works were being planned with an estimated population for the next 25 years. He said nearly 88% of all bore wells were connected with pump sets. “More than 90,000 new tap connections have been provided,” Mr. Patil said.

Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi agreed to consider the demand of increasing the upper limit of journalists health care scheme. Ms. Joshi highlighted efforts to enhance cleanliness across the city. “We are working on a more efficient waste collection system and increasing public awareness about segregation,” she said.

The interaction covered various issues including infrastructure development, waste management, and water supply and delay in some projects. Deputy Director of information and public relations Gurunath Kadabur, Belagavi journalists association president Vilas Joshi and other senior journalists and officers were present.
