The latest entry in the budget segment is Motorola’s new budget E-series. Moto E7 Plus The smartphone is priced at Rs 9,499 and comes equipped with some decent hardware. It sports a 6.5-inch display with HD+ resolution, which includes a waterdrop notch at the top. Moto E7 Plus works on Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor and is paired with 4 GB RAM. It’s good for handling day-to-day tasks as well as light gaming. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is fast in unlocking the device.
Motorola has used a 5,000mAh battery which lasts for a long time. There is no USB Type-C port here and Moto E7 Plus has a micro-USB port. The bundled charger is only 10W and takes over two hours to fully charge the device. You only get a dual camera setup on the Moto E7 Plus. The primary has a 48-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The cameras are capable of capturing good photos in daylight. The Moto E7 Plus also gets some good low-light shots using Night Mode.
The Moto E7 Plus offers an almost stock Android experience, which is not very common at this price. If you prefer a simple, easy-to-use interface then this is the phone for you. With a price tag of Rs 9,499, it’s easy to recommend the Moto E7 Plus, but also keep an eye on the more powerful Moto G9, which has been available on sale for Rs 9,999 several times.
Realme Narzo 10A
Realme Narzo 10A The Realme C3 can be seen as an upgrade to the Realme C3, as both these smartphones share a lot of the same hardware except the design, macro camera, and fingerprint sensor. This phone comes with HD+ resolution and the display size is 6.5 inches. MediaTek Helio G70 chipset is available. The price of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant of Narzo 10A is Rs 8,999 and the price of 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant is Rs 9,999.
The Narzo 10A packs a 5,000mAh battery and offers good battery life. It has a triple camera setup with 12-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel macro camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor. Apart from this, its selfie camera comes equipped with a 5-megapixel lens. The Narzo 10A gets a new design compared to the Realme C3.
Redmi 9
Redmi 9 It has been launched as an upgrade to Redmi 8. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 9 with a Micro-USB port, which is a downgrade from the USB Type-C port included in the Redmi 8 and is also disappointing. Redmi 9 has a 6.53-inch HD + display, which comes equipped with waterdrop notch.
Xiaomi has chosen the MediaTek Helio G35 processor to power the Redmi 9, which comes with 4GB of RAM. The Redmi 9 is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, but comes with a 10W charger in the box. While charging is a bit slow, the battery life is quite good and you can get more than a day’s backup with regular use. Redmi 9 works on MIUI 12, based on Android 10. There is a lot of bloatware on the smartphone and we also encountered spam notifications while using it.
Redmi 9 has a dual camera setup at the back, which has a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It has a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. The Redmi 9 is capable of handling day-to-day tasks, but heavy games may not run very smoothly.
Realme C12 and Realme C15
Realme recently launched two budget smartphones in its C-series. realme c12 And Realme C15 Both are quite similar and come with similar dimensions. Both the smartphones have a 6.5-inch HD+ display, which has waterdrop notches. Like Redmi 9, both work on MediaTek Helio G35 processor.
Both the Realme C12 and Realme C15 come with a 6,000mAh battery and have Micro-USB ports for charging. The Realme C12 comes with a 10-watt charger, while the C15 gets a better 18-watt charger. The Realme C12 only comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the C15 also gets an additional 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage option, though that’s above our target budget.
There are some differences in the camera setup of both Realme C12 and Realme C15. C12 has a 13-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel monochrome sensor and 2-megapixel macro camera. Whereas the C15 has a 13-megapixel primary camera with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, a 2-megapixel monochrome camera and a 2-megapixel retro camera. For selfies, the C12 has a 5-megapixel sensor and the C15 has an 8-megapixel sensor.
Redmi 9 Prime
Redmi 9 Primeis similar to the Redmi 9 and comes with the same 6.53-inch display. However, instead of the HD+ panel present in Redmi 9, it has a full-HD+ panel.
The Redmi 9 Prime also features a powerful MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. This gaming processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and you get 64GB or 128GB of storage, although in our budget the 64GB option came in handy. The Redmi 9 Prime runs MIUI 11 based on Android 10 and comes with a fair amount of bloatware.
The Redmi 9 Prime has a quad-camera setup, which includes a 13-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Camera performance is average overall. You will get good battery life thanks to the 5,020mAh battery, but it comes with 10W in the box, due to which charging is a bit slow.
