BIM students win CAPSIM competitions

A team of two final-year MBA students, S. Venkatesh and Pazhani Shankar, from the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) has secured the first rank globally in the CAPSTONE 2.0 Spring 2025 Challenge, which concluded recently.

Another team of two first-year MBA students, T.R. Prasana Subramaniam and P. Yutesh, of the institute bagged the first rank globally in the CAPSIM Core Spring 2025 Challenge. R. Subramanian, professor, guided the teams. The teams now find a place in the CAPSIM Hall of Fame, according to a press release from BIM.

Asit K. Barma, Director, BIM, said the institute now enjoyed a strong presence in the country as a top B-school in simulation-based teaching pedagogy, consistently winning CAPSIM competitions. The win vindicated the robustness of BIM’s MBA programme, he said.

All leading Indian B-schools, including IIMs, participated in the competition. This was the first time that two teams from the same institution had won first place in both the foundation and advanced competitions in the CAPSIM Global Challenge’s 20-year history, the release said.

The CAPSIM Challenge attracts students from around the globe, who had completed a CAPSIM simulation in the past 12 months. The competition, featuring alumni from the Capstone and foundation programmes of leading business schools worldwide, pits participants against one another in a biannual contest to crown the world’s best at managing a multi-million-dollar virtual company.

Over the years, the competition had gained popularity among top business school graduates, allowing them to showcase their talents and skills in strategy and consulting roles during recruitment.

The U.S., Australia, Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Türkiye were among the countries which participated this year, the release said.
