The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will launch newly procured mobile service vans on Monday to enhance bus maintenance and improve service efficiency across the city.
The vehicles will be flagged off by Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy at the BMTC Central Office in Shanthinagar.
The mobile vans will provide on-the-spot servicing for BMTC buses, reducing downtime and ensuring smoother operations. A BMTC official said, “These mobile service vans will be deployed across Bengaluru to respond quickly to breakdowns and carry out minor repairs on-site, minimising disruptions to public transport.”
Currently, the BMTC operates a fleet of around 6,500 buses, including approximately 1,300 non-AC electric vehicles. Additionally, the corporation plans to lease 320 AC electric buses soon. Ensuring proper maintenance of these vehicles is essential for uninterrupted service. “The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency and reduce delays caused by unexpected technical issues,” a BMTC official added.
