HYDERABAD
A team of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including its MPs (Rajya Sabha) led by working president of the party K.T. Rama Rao, will pay last respects and participate in the funeral of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
President of the party and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed party leaders to attend the funeral and pay tributes to the departed soul. In a statement, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed shock and profound grief at the passing away of Mr. Manmohan Singh on Thursday night.
Mr. Rao said Mr. Singh as the Finance Minister led by then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao led the country out of financial crisis and saved the country which was on the brink of economic collapse by introducing path-breaking economic reforms. It was during Mr. Singh’s premiership that Telangana was formed.
Recollecting his association with Mr. Singh as the latter’s Cabinet colleague in the UPA-I government, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said the former was a mine of knowledge, particularly in the area of economy, and had always preferred his actions speak louder than him. The demise of a great economist was a loss to the country, Mr. Rao said and expressed his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, party leaders Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, B. Vinod Kumar, Banda Prakash, V. Prashanth Reddy and others expressed grief at the passing away of Mr. Manmohan Singh.
