The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) described the Union Budget as a war-cry against the common people. IUML State general secretary P.M.A. Salam said that there was nothing in the Budget that gives hope to the poor and the ordinary people.
He said that the Centre tried to impose its high-handedness by totally ignoring federalism. The problems of the ordinary people cannot be addressed through verbal exercise, he added.
The IUML leader pointed out that the Budget neglected Kerala this time too. “The Central government has snubbed Kerala, treating it like a non-existent State in India,” he said. “It’s cruel that the Centre turned a blind eye to Wayanad, which had witnessed the worst natural disaster in recent memory,” Mr. Salam added.
While neglecting Kerala, the Centre showered Bihar with financial aid, likely with an eye on elections. “This is nothing but discrimination,” he said.
