The Budget for 2025-26 presented by Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav in the Legislative Assembly on Friday (February 29, 2025) would pave the way for achieving Swarnandhra, in line with the Viksit Bharat objective, with priority accorded to education, healthcare, agriculture, development and social welfare, observed Lanka Dinakar, chairperson of the 20-Point Programme Implementation Committee.
Addressing the media at Secretariat, Mr. Dinakar said that Mr. Keshav presented the first full-fledged Budget of “double engine sarkar,” erasing the traces of destruction of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy‘s regime during 2019-24. “Development and welfare have been promised in the Budget of ₹3.22 lakh crore,” he said.
“Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s campaign that construction of Amaravati is financial hardship has been erased without any allocation and by showcasing it as a self-sustainable project with the assistance of the Central Government,” he said.
Further, the urge to complete the Polavaram irrigation project was reflected by allocating ₹6,705 crores in the Budget. “Drought in the State will be eliminated by utilising 2,800 tmc ft of water through the Polavaram-Banakacharla project,” Mr. Dinakar said.
