Cong. has come to power whenever it won more seats in Mandya: DKS

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday said all seven constituencies in Mandya are as important to me as my constituency Kanakapura.

“Today, we have laid foundation stones for various development works worth ₹1,146 crore to repay the debt of gratitude to the people of Maddur for electing the Congress party,” he said.

“Out of seven seats in Mandya, Congress won in six seats, including Maddur. It got 136 seats and formed the government in the State. We have come today to Maddur to repay your debt,” Mr. Shivakumar said, while speaking at the launch of development works and laying foundation stone for various projects.

He said that a sum of ₹500 crore has been allocated for supplying water to Malavalli and to develop the irrigation canals in Maddur. “Due to the efforts of Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, a farm university has come up in Mandya. In all constituencies in Mandya, development works have been launched,” he added.

Whenever the Congress party has won more seats in Mandya, it has come to power, said the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

Mr. Shivakumar said the BJP has no morality to speak about the Congress and the government.

The party has changed the lives of the people with its schemes and development, he said, questioning the BJP’s contribution to the district when it was in power.

Praising MLA for Maddur K.M. Uday for giving his land for the party office, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “He (Mr. Uday) has been serving the people with commitment and dedication. He has donated land worth ₹2 crore for the construction of the party office in Maddur.”

Likewise, district Congress president in Chikkamagaluru, MLA for Siruguppa B.M. Nagaraj, Minister for Labour Santosh Lad, MLA for Gadag G.S. Patil, and Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil have also donated their lands for the party offices, the KPCC president told the gathering.

“As the president of the KPCC, I thank Mr. Uday for his gesture,” Mr. Shivakumar said.
