A 32-year-old police constable was killed in a road accident that occurred at Uthamarkoil overbridge on the outskirts of Tiruchi on Saturday. The police gave the name of the victim as G. Vivek who was attached to the Tiruchi District Armed Reserve unit.
Vivek was riding a motorcycle on Tiruchi-Salem road when a government bus which came in the opposite direction hit him. In the impact, the constable fell and sustained severe injuries on his hip. He was admitted to a private hospital where he died. The Kollidam police have registered a case against the bus driver A. Ravishankar, 30, said police sources.
