With the Opposition attacking Telangana government on every platform and the ruling party unable to respond equally to the criticism, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sent a strong message to the MLAs and Congress party leaders to run down the Opposition in the same tone and tenor.
Mr. Reddy who addressed the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Wednesday was stern in his message to the MLAs that they can’t sit and relax when the Opposition was using every opportunity to blame the government.
The Budget sessions are likely to be another platform for the Opposition to pin down the government, Mr. Reddy wanted better coordination between the MLAs and the Whips to counter the ‘falsehood’ on the floor of the House. He made several suggestions to the MLAs and MLCs on choosing a particular subject and preparing well before launching the attack on the Opposition.
He advised them to be present in the House to listen to the debates and their absence from the House during the discussions would be noticed by the party. He advised the MLAs to use their social media teams effectively as the Opposition was using it to target the government with unnecessary criticism.
The Chief Minister said the Budget sessions were crucial in sending out a message to the people on the welfare programmes launched by the government over the last one year and a platform like the Assembly should be effectively used to reach out to the people with figures and facts. Asking them to occupy the media space, he said he would soon have MLAs meeting district-wise to understand their requirements and constituency needs.
