SRIKAKULAM:
CPI(M) Srikakulam district secretary D. Govinda Rao on Saturday said that the party would chalk out an action plan on April 21 to oppose the forcible land acquisition for the cargo airport planned near Mulapeta sea port in the district.
Addressing the media here, Mr. Govinda Rao said that the party would interact with the president of the Cargo Airport Vyatrikea Porata Samiti K. Vasudeva Rao and its members in Palasa on Monday to finalise the action plan and mobilise the support of the people to be affected by the land acquisition in 20 villages of Vajrapukotturu and Mandasa mandals.
According to him, the government was expected to acquire around 1,400 acres in villages such as Ganguvada, Rampuram, Lakshmipuram, Metturu, Thaturu, Vankaluru, Anakapalle, and Barrivanpeta. The revenue authorities completed the digital survey in the identified villages.
He alleged that the Minister for Agriculture K. Atchannaidu was not in a position to listen to the grievances on the land acquisition in spite of submission of many petitions by local people.
“Many people will be displaced permanently due to the land acquisition and cashew, mango and coconut groves will be affected in the Uddanam region,” he said.
Meanwhile, officials indicated that the land acquisition would be done only with the prior consent of people. They said that the compensation would also be paid in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act-2013.
