The Basaveshwara Nagar police on Sunday arrested a delivery executive of an e-commerce company for allegedly assaulting a customer over a trivial row over providing wrong address for delivery.
As the video went viral the police tracked down Vishnuvardhan, a resident of Vijayanagar, arrested him and later let him go on station bail. Vishnuvardhan is a II PU student, working as a delivery executive in his free time.
Shashank S., a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar, had filed a complaint on May 21, hours after the incident.
According to the FIR, Shashank’s sister-in-law ordered groceries on a quick commerce platform. Vishnuvardhan was assigned as the delivery partner by the platform. When he reached the location, Shashank’s sister-in-law went to collect the order.
“He scolded my sister-in-law in a high pitched voice for giving an inaccurate address and when I intervened, he abused me and attacked me with his hands. He punched me in the face and injured my left eye,” Shashank alleged in his complaint.
