The BJP government at the Centre and the DMK government in Tamil Nadu are in a secret alliance and only pretending to fight against each other, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay said on Wednesday (February 26, 2025).

Speaking at an event organised at a private resort in Poonjeri near Mamallapuram to celebrate the commencement of the second year of the party, Mr. Vijay termed the “hashtag war” on X, between the BJP and DMK over the three-language policy, “kindergarten students’ behaviour.” He said it was the duty of the Centre to release funds to the State and it was the State government’s right to get those funds.

Stating that Tamil Nadu is the land of self-respect, he said: “We respect all languages and are not against any particular language. However, if a language is politically imposed on us with an intention to disrupt the language policy of Tamil Nadu and against the spirit of cooperative federalism and State autonomy, the TVK is firmly resolved to oppose it.”

“Earlier landlords came to politics. Now those who are in politics have become landlords. Our goal is to eliminate these landlords from politics,” Mr. Vijay said. The TVK is currently involved in strengthening its organisational structure at grassroots level and will soon organise a conference of booth-level agents to show the party’s strength, he said.

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who participated in the event as a special invitee, said: “Political corruption in Tamil Nadu is unprecedented. The TVK should fight against corruption, communalism, and dynastic politics.”
