PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday said the DMK government had doubled public debt, now amounting to ₹9,40,000 crore, in 4 years.
In 2021, the debt was just ₹4,40,000 crore under the previous regime.
Explaining PMK’s Shadow Budget for agriculture at a public rally, Dr. Anbumani said the DMK borrowed in 4 years what the State borrowed in the previous 74 years.
“An efficient and talented administration should increase non-tax revenues. Increasing taxes to raise revenues is not a big deal,” he said.
He further said there was nothing much in the Budget that warranted such a long speech by the Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu.
