Elderly woman tied to a pole, assaulted

The Anandapura police on Monday arrested a woman on charges of assaulting an elderly woman after allegedly tying her to a pole at Gowthamapura in Sagar taluk.

Huchchamma, 67, was allegedly assaulted by three people on June 25. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case against three persons – Prema, Darshan, and Manjunath. The police took Prema to custody on Monday, while Darshan and Manjunath have absconded.

The accused and victim are relatives and neighbours. On the day of the incident, they reportedl had a heated argument over dumping municipal waste.

Huchchamma allegedly made objectionable comments on Prema, who, in turn, tied the elderly to a pole. A video of the act went viral on social media.
