Farmers petition CM to drop land acquisition in Devanahalli taluk of Karnataka

A delegation of farmers from Channarayapatna hobli of Devanahalli taluk in Bengaluru Rural district met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on December 23 with a request to drop the acquisition of 1,777 acres by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).

The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has issued a notification for acquisition of 1,777 acres in 13 villages of Channarayapatna hobli.

In response to the farmers’ petition, Mr Siddaramaiah said a final notification had already been issued for acquisition of 430 acres, and this cannot be dropped from the land acquisition process. The opinion of the Advocate General of Karnataka would be sought on the matter, he said.

Ministers M. B. Patil and H. K. Muniyappa were among those who participated in the meeting.
