The Bengaluru City Police have registered an FIR against Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) Director Rishikesha T. Krishnan and seven other professors under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, for alleged caste discrimination and atrocities against an Associate Professor at the institute.
The Mico Layout Police registered the FIR on Friday, acting on a complaint of Gopal Das, 40, Associate Professor, Marketing, IIMB.
“I have been facing atrocities and discrimination ever since my caste identity has been revealed by the IIMB Dean (Faculty),” he alleged in his complaint.
Meanwhile, a senior city police official said that the IIMB had approached the High Court of Karnataka over the matter and there was an order issued on Friday.
“The order is yet to be put in the public domain. We will take further action in the case after examining the High Court order,” the official said.
