A jeep belonging to the Karnataka Forest department collided with a lorry at Valavupara, Koottupuzha, on Thursday morning, leaving Range Officer Madhav Dedagudu, 36, seriously injured.
The accident occurred when the officer, who was driving alone from Vallithode towards Koottupuzha, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the oncoming lorry. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the jeep, trapping him inside.
Firefighters and local residents worked to rescue the officer, who suffered serious leg injuries. He was initially taken to a private hospital at Irrity before being shifted to a hospital in Kannur for advanced treatment.
A Fire and Rescue services team from Irrity reached the spot to assist in rescue operations.
