Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar urged young talents to become job providers and not seekers by fostering innovative ideas for the welfare of the nation.
“To be a job seeker is easy, but becoming a job provider takes courage and a different mindset. You stand at a crossroads and must think differently,” Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said in his address at the 10th convocation of the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) in Panangad on Monday (February 17).
Mr. Arlekar added that the State government was supporting those aspiring to be job providers and promoting start-up initiatives.
The Governor said that future generations would remember only those who took the risk to start their own ventures rather than being job seekers. “The purpose of education is nation-building. It is for the welfare of society, not just our families. Are we not responsible for the society that helped us reach where we are today?” he asked.
He urged the youth to use their research findings for society and said young entrepreneurs should consider interests of the nation while pursuing their business ideas.
Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian presided, while Kufos Vice-Chancellor Pradeepkumar T. spoke. The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, presented the degree certificates, gold medals, and endowments as part of the convocation.
