Great injustice has been meted out to Karnataka, say Jarkiholi, Hebbalkar

Terming the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ‘disappointing’, Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi and Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar have said that great injustice had been meted out to Karnataka in the Budget.

Mr. Satish Jarkiholi has said that none of the demands from the State had been considered which indicated that there was no value for the words of Union Ministers from Karnataka. He said that there was nothing for Karnataka in the Budget including Bengaluru and that Union Ministers from the State had failed to get projects sanctioned for Karnataka.

Terming it an ‘election budget for Bihar’, Ms. Hebbalkar said the Finance Minister had meted out injustice to Karnataka by giving the State nothing and that there was also nothing for farmers. Although Ms. Sitharaman was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka, she had completely neglected the State, Ms Hebbalkar has said.

MP and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has said that the Finance Minister had considered the interests of all sections of the society and presented a Budget which would facilitate overall development of the country. Apart from giving relief to middle class, schemes for empowerment of farmers had been proposed. He said that 1.7 crore farmers would benefit from increase in the credit limit under Kissan credit card.

Member of Parliament Priyanka Jarkiholi has said that in the Union Budget, all classes including farmers and youth had been neglected. At a time when the country was affected by inflation, the Finance Minister had failed to give relief to the people, she has said.

Meanwhile, former Rajya Sabha member and Chairman of KLE Society Prabhakar Kore has termed the budget as a milestone in the country’s development. Education, health, industry and farm sectors had received good allocation in the budget and relief had been given to the middle class through an increase in the income tax exemption limit, he has said.
