Heated arguments at general council meets are normal, says Anbumani

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday called on party founder S. Ramadoss at his Thailapuram residence, a day after the leaders were involved in a verbal spat at the party’s special general council meeting in Pattanur.

Later, Dr. Anbumani told reporters that the PMK was a democratic organisation, and heated arguments or debates during general council meetings were normal. “Today, we have come to meet the founder. The PMK is a democratic party,” he added.

On the appointment of his relative P. Mukunthan as the party’s youth wing president, Dr. Anbumani said it was an intra-party issue, and mediapersons need not discuss it.

Dr. Anbumani further said: “We discussed [at the meeting] the party’s strategies, and its action plan for [securing] 10.5% internal reservation for Vanniyars, [conduct of] caste census, and the next course of protests.”
