Police officials offering a rose to a motorcyclist wearing a helmet as a token of appreciation, during the ‘Road Safety Week’ observed in Tirupati on Thursday.

As part of the ‘36th Road Safety Month’ currently under way, officials of the Transport and Police departments identified helmet wearing motorists and presented them a rose, as a gesture of appreciation for their adherence to rules.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) J. Venkat Rao and Regional Transport Officer K. Murali Mohan, who flagged off an awareness walkathon taken out by students of Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Science (AITS) and Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) at Karakambadi Road on Thursday, immediately shifted their focus to identifying the motorists following the rules.
The bikers, who were visibly scared on being stopped by the officials, panicked further when they were mobbed by the media camerapersons. To their pleasant surprise, the officers presented them roses and gave a pat on their back for wearing helmets.
Mr. Venkat Rao appealed to the public not to use mobile phones while riding bikes. Mr. Murali Mohan called upon the road users to meticulously follow road safety practices, indicating that it was not just the government’s responsibility.
A pledge was administered to the public and college students gathered on the occasion to follow the rules.
