Apart from the new cheaper base plan, the biggest change is that now all the plans will have the same upload and download speed. Earlier, Jio Fiber used to provide only 10 percent of the total speed of the plan as upload speed. Apart from this, Netflix has also been added to the portfolio of streaming apps and free access will be available in select plans of Jio Fiber. Additionally, Jio claims to offer truly unlimited internet with plans priced at Rs 1,499 and lower. However, there is a FUP limit of 3300 GB, beyond which your internet speed gets reduced.
Jio Fiber: New plans vs old plans
The Rs 399 plan is the new Jio Fiber Bronze plan and it offers 30 Mbps speed with unlimited voice calling, but this plan does not include any subscription for streaming apps.
The new Rs 699 Jio Fiber plan is now called the “Silver Plan” and access to JioCinema and JioSaavn apps has now been removed. Other benefits are the same as before and it comes with 100 Mbps speed.
The next plan in the series is called Jio Fiber Gold, which is priced at Rs 999 and includes access to a total of 11 streaming apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Voot, JioCinema, SunNXT, ShemarooMe, Lionsgate Play, HoiChoi, and ALTBalaji. Free subscription is available. The speed of this plan is 150Mbps. It’s unclear which of these apps will be missing, but chances are it will be Netflix. As Jio Fiber says, the price of these subscriptions is Rs 1,100 per month. Earlier, the company was offering a Rs 849 plan, which was known as the Silver plan and it had 100 Mbps speed and allowed access to streaming apps only three times. It came with a FUP cap of 800 GB.
Reliance Jio Fiber has three more plans – Rs 2,499, Rs 3,499 and Rs 8499. The Rs 2,499 plan will now be called Diamond+ instead of Diamond and includes 500Mbps speeds, up to 4,000GB of data and access to all 12 streaming apps. The Rs 3,499 Platinum plan, which was originally priced at Rs 3,999, still offers 1Gbps speeds of up to 7,500 GB as well as access to all 12 streaming apps. Finally, there is the Rs 8,499 Titanium plan, which remains the same as before and still offers 15,000 GB data and 1 Gbps speed.
