IIT Madras launches PG diploma in emerging technologies

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT M), has launched a new postgraduate diploma for fresh graduates and professionals to upskill in emerging tech domains. Those who do well in the programme may upgrade to a web-enabled M.Tech degree from the institute.  

The programme is designed to equip both fresh graduates and working professionals with industry-relevant technical expertise. It includes live online evening or weekend classes and access to recorded sessions. Those with full-time jobs or internships can pursue the programmes. 

Admission will be through an entrance exam to be held on July 13, 2025. Candidates may apply till May 2025. Classes commence from August/September 2025. To apply, visit https://code.iitm.ac.in/webmtech

Vignesh Muthuvijayan, associate chair, centre for outreach and digital education (CODE), IIT M, said the centre was addressing a growing need for flexible, industry-relevant technical education.  

Candidates will get hands-on projects and interim assessments via remote proctoring. The final exams will be conducted at designated centres across the country. Candidates will have the option of visiting the institute for lab sessions where applicable. 

Specialisations offered include aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering design, and process safety.
