The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread rainfall over the State on April 3 and 4.
IMD Bengaluru director C.S. Patil said Bengaluru city is very likely to experience light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms from April 2 to 4. The temperature is also very likely to decrease by 3°C to 4°C between April 2 and 5.
“The present synoptic condition is that a circulation lies over southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu coast extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. Another through lies over interior Karnataka extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of these systems, Karnataka is very likely to experience isolated light rainfall with thunderstorms on April 1 and 2,” Mr. Pail said.
He added that coastal Karnataka, north, and south interior Karnataka are very likely to experience light to moderate scattered rainfall with thunderstorms on April 3 and 4. “There will be isolated heavy rainfall over Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Chamarajnagar, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Gadag districts on April 3 and 4 for which yellow alert is issued. Hailstorms are very likely to occur in isolated places over interior Karnataka on April 3 and 4,” he added.
