Inquiry ordered against Drug Inspector on allegations of corruption

Minister for Health, Medical Science and Family Welfare Y. Satya Kumar Yadav ordered an inquiry into the allegations of corruption levelled against a Drug Inspector and directed officials to initiate departmental action against the Inspector.

The orders came after the department received complaints against him for reportedly demanding and collecting bribes from drug retailers against the promise of not taking action against them for any wrongdoings. The corruption allegations against the Inspector dated to 2024 and before, when he was working in Adoni. The Inspector has also been accused of defying the orders of the authority and shielding a chemist who resorted to irregularities.

Based on the findings of a preliminary inquiry into the abovementioned allegations, the Minister ordered a regular inquiry into the charges of corruption and for compromising on integrity by violating the Andhra Pradesh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964.

At a recent review meeting on enforcement of rules by the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), the Minister expressed concern over laxity on the part of field staff in the case and warned of action against any irregularities.
