Visvesvaraya Technological University, in association with JNN College of Engineering in Shivamogga, will hold the 26th inter-college athletics meet from March 15 to 18.
Around 2,000 students from 150 engineering colleges are expected to participate in the event.
In a press conference in Shivamogga on Thursday, National Education Committee president G.S. Narayana Rao said that 44 athletic competitions would be conducted as part of the sports meet.
VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar will inaugurate the event on March 15. S.D. Eshan, Arjuna awardee, will be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony.
Y.V. Vijay Kumar, principal of JNNCE, said that the college had made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the sports meet. The advanced electronic distance measurement device (EDM) would be utilised to declare results in athletic events.
NES Secretary N.S. Nagaraj and others were present at the press conference.
