Isolated rains and thunderstorms may continue in A.P. until April 20

Many places in Rayalaseema received light to moderate rainfall on Monday, with the highest of 32 mm being recorded at Balapanur in YSR Kadapa district.

According to the realtime data provided by the A.P. State Development Planning Society (APSDPS) at 7 p.m. on Monday, Mylavaram and Sunkesula in YSR Kadapa district, Kalumala Doddi and Katikapalli in Chittoor district, Boyalakuntla in Nandyal district and other stations received rain between 10 mm and 30 mm during the day.

The rains have brought down the mercury levels, as the maximum temperature recorded in the State on Monday was 41 degrees Celsius at Kanumukkala station in YSR Kadapa district.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)‘s forecast of light to moderate rain at isolated places continues for this week, until April 20.

Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching a speed of 40 kmph to 50 kmph, are likely to blow in isolated places across the three regions of North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. A slight fall in the maximum temperatures is expected in the next five days, according to the IMD.

According to IMD’s bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the central parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.

The A.P. State Disaster Management Authority has asked the people and farmers to be alert as sudden rains are expected in many areas.

Meanwhile, IMD, Amaravati, Senior Scientist S. Karunasagar said the maximum temperatures in the State might shoot up in the coming weeks.
