Terming the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) the ‘B team’ of the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president K. Surendran said that the INDIA bloc had become a reality in the State due to the constant support of the UDF leadership for the State government’s policies and opinions.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Surendran said that the UDF had been parroting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s false claim that the Union government was responsible for Kerala’s financial crisis.
He said that the Union government had sanctioned a special assistance loan for rehabilitation projects in the landslides-affected Chooralmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad district as per the State government’s request. However, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Sudhakaran had accused the Union government of neglecting the State and were set to hold a joint protest with the LDF. The UDF was fuelling the false propaganda being carried out by the LDF. The State government was fully responsible for the failure of the Wayanad rehabilitation. The Opposition had lost its sense of direction. Mr. Satheesan had forgotten the duties of a responsible Opposition, he said.
Mr. Surendran accused the UDF leaders of welcoming not only Shashi Tharoor’s purported praise for the State’s industrial and start-up sector, but all the positions of the ruling party.
