Kalaburagi performs poorly in II PU exam

Despite the several steps by the Department of Pre-University Education to improve performance in II PUC examination, Kalaburagi district has slipped to 31st place after the results were announced on Tuesday.

Of the total 29,964 students from the Arts, Commerce and Science streams who appeared for the exams in the district, only 15,061 students have passed (50.26%) the exam.

The overall pass percentage, including regular, repeaters and private candidates, stands at 55.70%, for the 31st place in the State.

In the Science stream, 14,342 students appeared for the exam and 9,455 passed it for a percentage of 65.92.

In the Arts stream, 11,274 students wrote the examination and 3,648 students passed it for a percentage of 32.35.

In the Commerce stream, 4,348 students took the exam and 2,018 students cleared it for a percentage of 46.41.

Out of 22,556 students who took the PU exam in urban areas, 13,615 passed it, while out of the 4,408 students from rural areas, 1,446 students have passed.

The pass percentage for urban area is 53.28 and that of rural area is 32.08.
