Kerala University V-C issues directives to combat drug abuse in educational institutions

Kerala University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Mohanan Kunnummal has issued strict guidelines to all college Principals, directing them to ensure a drug-free environment in all educational institutions across the State.

In his communication, Prof. Kunnummal emphasised the need to implement a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotic substances on both college campuses and affiliated hostels. He also instructed that comprehensive action be adopted to ensure that these premises `were completely free from illegal substances and banned materials.

The Vice-Chancellor also urged collaboration with various stakeholders, including parent-teacher organisations, students’ unions, National Service Scheme (NSS) units, National Cadet Corps (NCC) units, local law enforcement agencies, and the Excise department, to address the issue.

He sought a detailed report of the actions adopted by the colleges to be submitted to the Kerala University Registrar at registrar@keralauniversity.ac.in within two weeks.
