Functionaries of Lions Club District 318E covering Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts and Mahe, which is part of the Union Territory of Puducherry, have handed over 200 cartridges of slow-acting insulin to Type 1 Diabetic Welfare Society Kerala for distribution among affected children.
This was in response to a recent news report in The Hindu, which highlighted the concerns of the children and their parents in view of some changes in the ‘Mittayi’ scheme of the Kerala Social Security Mission.
The resources were mobilised by a team led by district governor Ravi Gupta, and Avni Skandhan, chief district coordinator for diabetes.
The insulin cartridges were formally received by T.R. Vijesh, president, and B. Roopesh, secretary, of the association, in the presence of businessman Gokulam Gopalan, at an event held at Sree Gokulam Convention Centre, Balussery, recently.
