A man was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment after being convicted of raping a 25-year-old woman in a 2021 case registered under Penugonda police limits in West Godavari district.
The victim’s parents had lodged a complaint with the police after the accused, Anjuri Prasanna Kumar refused to marry the woman.
In an official release, West Godavari Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi said; “Mr. Prasanna Kumar sexually exploited the woman after engaging her in his farm field for seven years, promising to marry her.” On Tuesday, the Eluru-based court also imposed a fine of ₹5000 fine on the convict.
