The Vidhana Soudha police have arrested a man for cheating a Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer promising him to get him a good posting.
The accused was identified as Raghavendra from Haveri.
According to the police, the accused took a petition addressed to the chief minister seeking a transfer from him and forged a note on the petition purportedly from an officer posted at the Chief Minister’s office recommending the KAS officer for a suitable post. When the officer furnished this in his department seeking a transfer, his higher-ups cross-checked with the CMO, who upon verification clarified that the note was forged and fake.
Based on a complaint by a secretariat official, Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case of cheating and forgery tracked down Raghavendra, and arrested him. The accused worked as personal assistant to many MLAs earlier and knew the procedure and used them to cheat officials, police said.
