Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar on Sunday night participated in Bhogi celebrations at Pedaravuru village in Tenali, where he extended Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma greetings to the people of the State. The Minister, along with party leaders, workers and NDA coalition members, participated in the festival on an agricultural field in the village.
Speaking on the occasion, Nadendla Manohar emphasised the importance of preserving traditional cultural practices during Sankranti celebrations. He wished everyone a prosperous Sankranti, which would illuminate every household and benefit farmers and citizens. He expressed hope for improved employment and livelihood opportunities in the region, underscoring the need for rapid progress in Amaravati’s development as the State capital.
Highlighting the coalition government’s commitment to farmers, the Minister announced that under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s directives, the government cleared ₹1,674 crore in pending dues left by the previous administration within a month of coming to power. He also revealed that 28 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been procured, with payments credited to farmers’ accounts within 24 to 48 hours.
Mr. Manohar noted that 94% of farmers received payments within nine hours, aided by the introduction of technology-driven methods like WhatsApp for procurement processes. He commended farmers for their resilience despite past challenges.
