The Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGNPCL) has decided to construct new sub-stations planned in Hanmakonda, Warangal and Karimnagar areas as indoor facilities due to scarcity of land/site in the locations where they are being proposed.

At a review meeting held at the Northern Discom corporate office at Hanmakonda on Tuesday, Chairman and Managing Director of the Northern Discom K. Varun Reddy asked the engineers to prepare an action plan to set up the indoor sub-stations. For that, the CMD instructed them to take up a pole-to-pole drone survey to identify problems including the spots/stretches where overhead power could not be laid and underground cabling was necessary.

He enquired about the response from consumers at the feedback cells and the new 11 kV lines being planned to be laid. He wanted the officials to speed up line-laying work in Devunur, Katwanpalli and other areas by ensuring uninterrupted power supply to emergency services such as hospitals, medical institutions and government offices.

Mr. Varun Reddy suggested the engineers link all sub-stations in and around Hanmakonda/Warangal so that supply could be made from one side or the other in the event of natural calamities. Further, he told them to enhance the capacity of transformers where load was likely to go up by 60%.

The engineers were told to take up repairs on loose lines, bent and rusted poles, low-height distribution transformer plinths, which are prone for accidents, before the onset of next monsoon season.
