Neelam Sanjiva Reddy hailed as ‘beacon of hope’

Speakers at the “Dr. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy Memorial Awards-2025” hailed him as a beacon of hope for the current and future generations in terms of honesty, integrity and public service.

The event was organised by Association of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI) in association with Sri Venkateswara University’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration on Friday.

APPSC former chairman Y. Venkatrami Reddy and Andhra Pradesh State Administrative Tribunal former chairman Justice G. Yethirajulu hailed the first Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh for prioritising rural development and agricultural advancement by improving irrigation, providing subsidies for farmers and promoting modern technologies.

SVU Vice-Chancellor Ch. Appa Rao recalled Neelam’s vision behind founding the varsity in the backward Rayalaseema region. “Dr. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Vishishta Ratna” award was presented to Prof. Venkatrami Reddy, ‘Nyaya Shiromani’ to former Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice B. Sesha Sayana Reddy, ‘Vidya Shiromani’ to former Vice Chancellor of GITAM University Prof. S. Dayananda and ‘Vaidya Shiromani’ to noted Ayurvedic doctor Dr. G.V. Purrnachand.

A special souvenir published in the honour of the awardees was released on the occasion. SVU political Science head B.V. Muralidhar, AGRASRI Director D. Sundar Ram and All India Radio retired Director A. Malleswara Rao also spoke at the event.
