Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that all land-related issues, except cases pending in civil courts, will be resolved under the Bhu Bharati Act 2025 through the Bhu Bharti portal which replaced Dharani.
Slamming the previous government for collecting the fee from the aggrieved parties, who were asked to pay ₹1,000 per application, he has announced that the current government would not charge the applicants. He urged the public to utilise Revenue grievance redressal meetings ( Revenue Sadassu) to be held across the State in phased manner.
He addressed the people at the first Revenue Sadassu held under the pilot launch of the Bhu Bharati portal at Khajipur village, Maddur mandal, Narayanpet district, on Thursday.
Maddur mandal falls under the Kodangal Assembly constituency which is represented by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Srinivas Reddy claimed that the previous Dharani indeed helped the BRS leaders usurp thousands of acres of land and ruin the lives of innocent people. Accusing the BRS of causing much hardship to the public due to loopholes in the Act, for which even the rules were not notified, he advised Opposition leaders to appreciate the Congress government’s efforts to find permanent solutions to land issues.
“I hope wisdom will dawn on them who caused problems to people at least now. They should appreciate our efforts to rectify blunders,” he said.
Stating their plans to upload maps of land owned by individuals, including their house sites, he said that the government would identify 6,000 eligible individuals in the first phase by the first week of next month and provide training to designate them as licensed private surveyors who prepare maps.
Advocate Sunil Kumar, who assisted the government in preparing the Bhu Bharati Act, appealed to the public to remember Section 4 and Sub-Sections 5 and 6, which address issues like misspelling, wrong survey numbers, and reduced extent of area. “If you mention these sections, officials will resolve your issues, as they will understand you have a complete idea of the procedure,” he said.
Mr. Sunil also added that the previous act did not allow for the correction of many issues and termed the enactment of Bhu Bharati as a major change in the land record maintenance system in the State, and hoped that all issues would be completed by August 15.
Makthal MLA Vakiti Srihari narrated the problems faced by people in resolving land issues during the previous government due to the lack of powers vested with Tahsildars and RDOs. “
My name was spelt as Vakati Srihari instead of Vakiti Srihari in the pattadar passbooks, and it took quite a long time to get the issue resolved despite being a Zilla Parsihad chairman at that time,” he said.
One Veera Reddy, a farmer from the village, said several Dalit youths faced problems related to land in survey number 117. Another villager, Mahipal, an ex-serviceman, appreciated the government for bringing the new RoR Act, saying it addressed issues that plagued villagers during the previous government.
Revenue officials, including District Collector Sikta Patnaik, explained the salient features of the Act. Meanwhile, three special counters were set up at the venue to receive applications in a specified format from people.
