After submitting representations to all District Collectors in Andhra Pradesh, the members of the Andhra Pradesh Speciality Hospital Association have begun meeting the people’s representatives to apprise them of the ongoing issue regarding the pending dues and have requested their support in addressing it.
On March 8, the association announced that they would discontinue all cashless services being offered to the people in the network hospitals under Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva from April 7 due to non-payment of dues amounting to ₹3,500 crore by the State government.
“Between March 8 and 31, there has been no response to our announcement from the State government, but they released funds twice, of about ₹300 crore, towards dues. But, it is not even 10% of the total pending amount,” said association president K. Vijay Kumar.
Dr. Vijay Kumar said by meeting the people’s representatives and bureacrats, they were trying to raise awareness about the issue.
“Many do not seem to know what is going on. It is true that the previous YSRCP governmet owed us ₹2,200 crore and the amount later increased to ₹3,500 (out of which ₹300 crore has been cleared). We are helpless and are in no position to continue delivering services to the people,” Dr. Vijay Kumar said.
