One missing after canoe capsizes in Vembanad lake in Kerala

A boat capsized in the Vembanad lake, near Kattikkunnu, at Vaikom in Kottayam district of Kerala on Monday, leaving one person missing.

The accident occurred around 2 pm while a group was returning after attending a funeral at Poothotta.

As per preliminary reports, there were around 30 people on board. All but one have been rescued. A search is ongoing for the missing person.

Those rescued have been admitted to a hospital at Vaikom.

The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
