Panic at RGIA after hoax bomb threat

Panic prevailed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) after an anonymous bomb threat email was sent to airport authorities on Friday. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, local police and bomb squad sprang into action and conducted a thorough check in the airport. The threat turned out to be a hoax as no suspicious material was found on the premises.

According to an official from the Shamshabad police, the email was received from an unidentified person claiming to be a terror sleeper cell. The caller threatened to blast the airport without mentioning any specific time, the official said.

The police said that search is still under way for any suspicious items at the airport and to identify the person behind the email.
